Blue Monday: Exotic Bird

San Diego Safari Park

These beautiful birds, with their fancy plumage, surely have a name. I am not familiar with these particular birds but I must say, they win the "hospitality" award. The left panel shows how assertively we were greeted, while the other bird joined in, and then they started to dance before our eyes. We were all charmed while the camcorders were taking it all in. I enjoyed my time at the Safari Park. Perhaps you have you seen this bird variety before? They remind me of a miniature peacock, in a way.

K-music Performance

The Kindergarten children finished performing in their Patriotic Program for their graduation class. Congratulations boys and girls. You did a great job with the songs using your rhythm instruments. Now, pop on over to First Grade!

We're Roaming in the Rainforest

This colorful picture book is available in paperback for $7.99 and the hardcover was $16.99, now $10.99 To order online, click the link under the photo that will take you to my marketplace. This is a popular book for ages 4-10.

Three children embark on a day-long trek through the rainforest, discovering all sorts of exotic creatures in their natural habitats. The charming, rhyming text highlights an adjective for each creature. The story is complemented by educational end notes about the creatures in the story, and the peoples of the rainforest.

Un recorrido por la selva

Also, written by Laurie Krebs and Anne Wilson, Roaming the Rainforest is available in Spanish. See what others are reading at Book Sharing Monday.

For the music class, I made Rain Sticks (from paper towel rolls) to use with the song "Aloha Oe".

Remember how the chorus goes?

Farewell to you, farewell to you
The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers
One fond embrace,
'Ere I depart
Until we meet again
Aloha `oe, aloha `oe
E ke onaona noho i ka lipo
One fond embrace,
A ho`i a`e au
Until we meet again
