Being Thankful

Thank You!

I hope this has been a very restful week for all my teacher friends and bloggers. Wishing you happy times with family togetherness.

It's always good to reflect on the good things we have in life and be thankful.

I want you to know how thankful I am for you and all of the support you've given Barefoot Books LadyD and LadyD Books throughout the year.

For those of you on Pinterest who have pinned my Kindergarten and Sunday School lesson plans, I am so thankful for your support.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sing to Hear We Go 'Round The Mulberry Bush

This is the way we open the backpack, open the backpack, open the backpack.
This is the way we open the backpack, and get ready to go.
This is the way we put stuff in, put stuff in, put stuff in.
This is the way we put stuff in, and get ready to go.
This is the way we close the backpack, close the backpack, close the backpack.
This is the way we close the backpack, and get ready to go.

Ode To My Backpack by Erika W.

O beautiful material,
Strong and navy blue,
Proteus himself is not as flexible,
Nor as persevering as thee.
Despite the abuse to which I subject you during the year,
Thou remain true to me in times of cheer and fear.

O steadfast zippers
Who seal off my effects,
And especially my precious secrets, from the world,
Without thee, how could I possibly survive?
When the pressures of the world bear down on me,
I unload them unto thee and know thou shalt protect them within.

And thee too noble straps
Help me bear the crushing weight of Atlas' burden.
When I feel like I may surrender and collapse,
Thou comfort my aching shoulders,
And give me the strength to tread forth and face life.
Without thee, where would I find the might to go on?

O dear, dear backpack,
But what a dreadful encumbrance thou can be
When our troubles combine and intermingle
To fashion agonizing torture upon thy constitution and upon my bones.
Through the pain, though, the supple bliss and warmth of they cushioning,
Maintains the everlasting bond of our love.

Ultimately, our constant proximity results in a bursting,
Of thy tolerance and my own patience.
The inconceivable strain disrupts Libra's balance,
And wears think upon thy threads of lenience.
But fear not, for Astraea's needle can stitch strong words
And restore the union of dear, sincere companions.

So though the struggle for reciprocity may endure,
I will stray from thy benevolence, backpack, nevermore.

3 Questions for Writing Assignment

Writing Assignment: 3 Questions

I received a very cool writing assignment from Katie Davis awhile back... You might want to visit here site, www.katiedavis.com She's encouraging, motivating and a great author!

First Question: "What did you do right in 2013?"

Well,  I had finished up teaching music at a private Kindergarten class and decided that I missed the kids soooo much. From there I then went to the Sunday School Classes for 2-5 year old kids and it was like a whirlwind of fun, teaching tons of children songs to sing along with hand gestures.

Second Question: "What are your three words for 2014?"

1. Organize. I tend to make piles of paper with all my wonderful notes that inspire me for the moment.

2. Clean. I then tend to scatter my sticky notes throughout every room in the house.

3. Celebrate. After I figure out what I meant by all my note-taking, then I proceed to write a blog post or just work on writing 400 words for an article.

Katie says, "It's easy to get overwhelmed. Everyone is so busy. When you write things down it makes you feel in control. Crossing things off is even more fun!"

Third Question: Visualize where you see yourself at the end of 2014. Go as big as you can. See it. Visualizing makes it happen. Describe it below.

I see myself leading the children in two live performances (mostly for Christmas and Easter) to  a large audience. I also see how my being a piano teacher is opening doors for music therapy (for those having some type of injury to the brain.) Also, bringing music to Guest Homes and maybe getting back with the worship team or doing special music for the church. Plus, having musicians meet in my home and eventually record songs for children's books!

So, some additional writing thoughts could be on:

Goals for this year 2014.
Goals for this week of...
On going from previous weeks.
To Do.

Projects Review - Friday
Notes

Sometimes I wish their was a writer's workshop here in town but right now I'm finding lots of resources online. So, what are you working on? What are your 3 words for 2014?

Kindergarten Music: Absolutely Nothin'

Kindergarten Music: Absolutely Nothing

A fun and easy song to do with kids that's from the CD Dig Down Deep, is called Absolutely Nothin'. Our Sunday school kids love to put their hand on their hips and shake their finger back and forth, singing "Nothin', nothin', absolutely nothin.'" I like the song because it reinforces that nothing can separate us from the Father's love. What wonderful seeds are being planted in young people's hearts and minds.

Absolutely Nothin'  (Lyrics and Chords)

 D                                                      G
 Nothin', nothin', absolutely nothin'
D                                                       G
Nothin', nothin', absolutely nothin'
D
What can take your love away?
                                                          G
Nothin', nothin', absolutely nothin'.
 D
What can make us separate?

Nothin', nothin', absolutley nothin'.
     G               A
In death or in life,
            F#                    Bm
What's deep or what's high,
             Em                                          A
There's one thing that stays the same.
        G           A
No power or king
        F#         Bm

      Em           A
To take your love away.
 D                                                     G

Children's Music: Get Up, Get Up!

We had a wonderful opportunity to introduce a new song to the children, from 2 - 5 years old. They loved it! Their bright, smiling faces were eager to learn this one.

Song Lyrics to Get Up, Get Up

Get Up, Get Up
By Jana Alayra

Get up, get up
Get up and tell the world
Get up, get up
Some people haven’t heard

That Jesus paid the price
So we can have eternal life
Yeah, get up, get up
Get up and tell the world

Get up, get up
Get up and tell the world
Get up, get up
Some people haven’t heard

That Jesus paid the price
So we can have eternal life
Yeah, get up, get up
Get up and tell the world

Every day, in all that you say and do
There is a way to say that He loves you

Get up, get up
Get up and tell the world
Get up, get up
Some people haven’t heard

That Jesus paid the price
So we can have eternal life
Yeah, get up, get up
Get up and tell the world

Every day, in all that you say and do
There is a way to say that He loves you

Get up, get up
Get up and tell the world
Get up, get up
Some people haven’t heard

That Jesus paid the price
So we can have eternal life
Yeah, get up, get up
Get up and tell the world

We do the hand motions a little bit different than the kids on the video. Our class likes to snap their fingers on the "get up" part. We pretty much follow along with the Jana dvds.

Sunday School: Every Move I Make

LadyDpiano: Every Move I Make

Next Sunday we will be doing this song for Sunday School at our church. I have played Every Move I Make before on the worship team. It's an alive song and a fun one to do the with hand gestures. Below, you will see various chord charts in different keys. We sing it in G because it's easier to play on the guitar. The kid's love this one.

My grandson and the ocean inspire me today. Here are some refreshing thoughts to ponder while taking in the sights of a beautiful and vast horizon. You'll find some blue all around!

Kindergarten Music: Servant of All

Sunday School Music: Servant of All

We introduced a new song to the Kindergarten class, along with the 2's and 3's yesterday. Needless to say, the song was a hit. It was easy for the children to hold one finger up for the word, "first" and then use both hands to make a zero for the word, "last." When we got to the chorus, everyone just started jumping!! It's so rewarding to see seeds being planted in young ones hearts and minds.

Here's the original chord chart but we found it easier to play the song in the Key of C.

Servant of All (Mark 9:35)

 B             E/B             B         B                 F#    B
If anyone wants to be first he must be the very last.
 B              E/B            B         B                 F#    B
If anyone wants to be first he must be the very last.

Chorus
               F#  E        B
And the servant of all, that's right
                     F#  E        B
You know, a servant of all, that's right
                   F#  E       B
Uh-huh, a servant of all, that's right
                      F#  E        B
You know, a servant of all _______

Vamp

B   E/B   B   B   F#    B
               Be a servant of all
B   E/B   B   B   F#    B
               Be a servant of all

Repeat Verse, Chorus, Vamp

Repeat Verse, Chorus

B   E/B   B   B   F#    B
               Be a servant of all
B   E/B   B   B   F#    B
Be a servant of all________ yeah!

 Books on Serving

Green Eggs and Ham and Other Servings of Dr. Seuss
Serving in Your Church Nursery (Zondervan Practical Ministry Guides)

I think this is a powerful song to encourage us to think about others needs and how we can encourage, inspire and build up others. Some churches and organizations have huge ministry outreaches in cleaning up schools and beautifying the land. Others take care of the elderly, while many ministry leaders serve in their church.

We like singing and playing rhythm instruments with the children.

Have you found serving rewarding and if so, in what way?
