Greek Islands: Authentic Greek Cuisine

Greek restaurant sign

My husband and I went on a quick road trip (about a 1 1/2 hour drive) to Palm Springs. It was great to see the place again since I hadn't been back there for quite sometime. Mostly I saw palm trees and lots of stores to shop in... but I did come across this Greek restaurant sign. No, we didn't eat here but we managed to go to a fresh seafood restaurant later on that day. It was funny (yet sad) to spot this Justin Bieber sign in a local store window, too. By the way... I've posted 2 Greek recipes on Pinterest Board: Greek Food.

Everything was real nice there, especially seeing the statue of Marilyn Monroe. Plus, the Red Hat Society gals were having a convention in Palm Springs! That was a special treat to see and I especially loved seeing my cousin Peter performing in a local play about a true story. The author of The Yearling was being sued for using the names and backgrounds of local town people in Florida. The play is called, Invasion of Privacy.

Happy Meerkat Day!

Meerkat at the San Diego Wild Animal Park

Last Fall we visited the San Diego Safari Park and took a few photos of the Meerkat display. These guys are so peppy and always scurrying about, going into their numerous tunnels for hiding. I managed to get a snapshot of one that reminded me of a very skinny groundhog!

For Coloring Page Tuesday, I chose the image of the Groundhog from Elizabeth O. Dulemba.

Children's Theater: 3 Little Piggies

pink mask

wolf mask

Children's Theater is a fun time around our house. These colorful masks were made by my friend Anny. She is a former kindergarten and art teacher. After my grandson acted out the popular nursery story "The Three Little Pigs," we decided to donate the wolf and several pink piggies to Ryan's kindergarten classroom. What playtime masks have you created?

Ryan loves to play the guitar. He's 5 years old and I never know what hat he's going to put on next! It's the same with his grandpa and the shoes! I think there are some blues in this photo for Blue Monday and Mandarin Orange Monday

Wikipedia

The Three Little Pigs is a fable featuring anthropomorphic pigs who build three houses of different materials. A big bad wolf is able to blow down the first two pigs' houses, made of straw and wood respectively, but is unable to destroy the third pig's house, made of bricks. Printed versions date back to the 1840s.

Piggies Lyrics: The Beatles

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their sties with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.
