The Velcro Wall

velcro wall at harvest festival
A couple of boys experiencing the "sticky side of life" but in a fun way, known as playing on the notorious Velcro Wall!

run and jump at the fun zone
Our grandson didn't want to leave this fun event. He would throw the velcro patch to the wall and then from the back would run towards the marker while being attached to a bungee cord.

You can see pure joy on Ryan's face. Guaranteed to have a good night's rest after participating on the slide, over and over again!
cake walk at the harvest festival
So many wonderful families contributed delicious cakes for the famous cake-walk event. Ryan was a winner and selected the "M&M" one, of course!

Our church provided an outreach ministry for the community. It was a huge event, the Harvest Festival and a successful one at that. Providing inexpensive rides and good food for the entire family, everyone sure had a real nice time. It was so special for the children because it was a safe place for them to play and show off their costumes, plus as you can see from the photos, kids had a blast with the games and rides. I took tons of pictures but I just wanted to share a few with you for todays wonderful memes.

Towards the end of the day, our grandson who wanted to be a cop this year, participated in the cake walk and proudly shared his winnings with his dad! Will you have trick-or-treators in your neighborhood? Some of the homes here are nicely decorated with corn husks and pumpkins.

Whatever you have planned for your Halloween celebration, I hope you experience warm together-times with laughter and nice surprises!

Marble Run and Marathon Runners

Remembering the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing

After almost a week of complete disruption, where evil seemed to prevail, we have some relief from the terrorist attack for now. I can tell you that I was on pins and needles waiting to hear from my cousin and his wife. They were headed to Boston on Monday for a business trip. They saw the whole thing from the airplane and landed just before they closed down the airport. Then they had to go on a 2 hour taxi trip before they could enter their hotel. Only to find out that they weren't allowed to leave their hotel because the conferences were being held there. Following that, they learned the town was on lock down. I just heard from my cousin and he is safe at home now. I would like to hear more from his perspective of the events that he saw at a later date.

Meanwhile, from the photos you can see my grandson playing with his marble run constructed from molded plastic in blue and orange. With the second photo I added a fire-like-texture shooting across a gray background at lightning speed.

Photos for Blue Monday and Mandarin Orange Monday

In addition to my cousin coincidentally being in Boston on Monday, a former piano client of mine is a runner and she had crossed the finish line, received her medal and was 2 blocks away when she heard the very loud blast.

Here is what my friend posted in lieu of entering the next race this weekend... because we will not live in fear!

Let's run our marathons, watch baseball games and enjoy our freedom! Boston Strong!

Citrus Labels

Forsythia and Lavender

I enjoy going to our local library at least once a week. It's so beautiful and comfortable inside. The children's section is fabulous. One room houses a baby grand piano while another displays local artists, photographer and quilter's work. Plus, the outdoor landscape and patio is so pretty and serene.

Citrus Label

I never know what to expect in regards to displays at the library. One thing for sure, I try to remember to bring my camera along. In this case, I enjoyed capturing lots of Citrus Labels, although taking pictures through the glass can be challenging but here's a few to see.  They sell antique fruit labels and more at http://www.vintagedepotdirect.com/vintage-labels.html

Citrus Label Collection
I was surprised to learn that there is a Citrus Label Society at http://www.citruslabelsociety.com/

Fruit and vegetable labels were lithographed and made for use on wooden fruit and vegetable shipping crates beginning in the 1890's.  I do recall seeing paper citrus labels on the ends of a wooden crate way back when . Do you?

Our library is about a 15 minute drive from our home. How is it where you are? For more lovely photos, visit Mellow Yellow Mondayand Blue Monday

Gourd Ghost Game

Ghost Bowling with Gourds

Gourd Ghost Bowling

First off, I saw these tissue ghosts on another blog and I failed to record the link.  The blogger used 5 rolls. Needless to say, this is not my original creative thought. Yet, what a great idea because it is sooo easy to make!!! (3 dots) lol! I know my grandson will love playing this game, like lawn bowling. We will try gourds, persimmons and little round pumpkins to knock the rolls down for a fun time together.
