"Cynthia came in quietly and set up a cup of tea before him. He kissed her hand, inexpressibly grateful, and she went back into the kitchen. When we view the little thing with thanksgiving, even they become big things." -- Jan Karon (Those High, Green Hills)

Quote It Saturday

fuschia

I am one of those that believe manners matter! I am constantly training and encouraging my grandchildren to say their "please" and "thank you's". What I'm hoping for is that later on in life they will learn contentment and have a satisfied heart because along the way, they were sewing the seeds of please and thank you... so that, they might focus on what really matters and what doesn't.

Being thankful produces a satisfied heart; an appreciative spirit . Don't you think so?

Warmly,

Flowers on Saturday: Birds

bird of paradise

"To own a bit of ground, to scratch it with a hoe, to plant seeds, and watch the renewal of life, - this is the commonest delight of the race, the most satisfactory thing a man can do." -- Charles Dudley Warner

Along the path, I discovered a grouping of the Bird of Paradise. They seem to be everywhere in SoCal. The first photo was taken from my yard and then this one is near my neighbor's fence.

Farther down the road you see folks lining their easement with them because of their easy care. Do you have Birds of Paradise near you?

For us, school will be starting soon. Are you ready? I am teaching one of my grandsons how to tell time. He is only 4 but I want him to be well prepared for Kindergarten next year. When I teach piano, I have my computer set with a programmed voice to say the time aloud. It helps me stay on track with lessons. Here' s a great resource you might be interested in, Online Stopwatch. And if you have a Lakeshore Learning Center near you, I'm using this to help the grandchildren tell time.

I think it's so important to spend quality time with your children, don't you? I decided to keep this blog up and running, trying to post now and then. I've been doing lots of writing lately and sending my manuscript to various publishers. The journey is always exciting. Thanks so much for following along. I'll keep you posted if there's any news. These things take time, you know.
