Grandsons' Tonka Truck for Mellow Yellow Monday |
Did you know that...
The impact of the Tonka truck concept has been enduring and pervasive, especially the Mighty Dump Truck and associated "Mighty" line of construction equipment models introduced from 1964. The all-metal "Tonka Trucks" were sold throughout the world and earned a reputation as being indestructible, although the steel has been increasingly replaced by plastic from the late 1980s onwards. The company was purchased by Hasbro in 1991... Tonka trucks were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York, in 2001. Wikipedia
What I do know is that our grandson loves to fill his yellow Tonka Truck up with dirt, leaves and twigs. Then he drops everything out into the field in the front yard. Is that how it is with your boys? Sometimes he races the trucks down the driveway to see how fast and far they will go, especially where hos truck ends up. We all have a laugh and repeat this process over and over. The same with you? When I've had enough excitement, I usually go inside to prepare a meal but isn't it amazing how one Tonka Truck can keep a boy entertained for hours?!
Grandson's Blue Shovel for Blue Monday |
A shovel is a tool for digging, lifting, and moving bulk materials, such as soil, coal, gravel, snow, sand, or ore. Shovels are extremely common tools that are used extensively in agriculture, construction, and gardening. WikipediaThis mighty blue shovel helps Grandpa with compost in the garden, mulch for the orchard, sand castles at the beach and a variety of other uses, like throwing dirt on top of my grandson's hair! You'll find our hostess for Blue Monday meme, Smiling Sally, to be a very friendly blogger who will leave you a nice comment and she has lovely followers who are very nice, too!

Love your post on your blog!
DeleteMost boys are given trucks and cars, but my sense is that if the parent would give their girl a truck, the same would happen, because it's "a container" that would hold something, and "it moves," 2 great things for their developmental age:) - oh, I forgot a 3rd one: a bright color! Happy MYM:)
ReplyDeleteSo true, in fact we plan to give our granddaughter her very own truck in a few weeks.
DeleteThat company has been around a long time. Still just as popular as when it started.
