Day At La Jolla Cove

Towards the end of our Christmas break, my husband and I ventured south to La Jolla, California. It was at the La Jolla Cove where we spotted the many kayakers (one in blue) with their hats, jackets and these two ladies swimming without a wet suit, using the blue fins. I love the different shades of blue in the water from our beautiful Pacific Ocean. Do you have coves, caves or lifeguard towers nearby?

Goodbye Summer: Hello Fall

I had two back-to-back outings last week as seen here in the photos. Made it to Oceanside Harbor to experience a cool sea breeze, drink in the water sites (Sea Trek, local surfer) and embrace many warm memories of our grandson playing in the sand... Goodbye Summer. What a wonderful season of sizzling temperatures and fun in the sun moments with family!

At the San Diego Safari Park there is a special Botanical Cactus Trail. The orange blooms and leaves reminded me of a new season approaching in all its orange splendor. It's a different contrast from Poplars, Liquid Amber trees and such varieties. I suspect the grouped Aloe Vera were burned by too much sun. I found the middle photo to be somewhat "corky" and funny. Silly blooms, yet marvelous creations found in nature. Hello Fall!

Here's my photo edit with lightning trails effect!

Pony Riding and Curb Walking

Ben's blue jeans and bright blue riding helmet, along with pretty blue Maine skies, make for a perfect horse riding day! It was a great outing for my grandson, son-in-law, Jon's dad and a fun addition to a birthday party that was waiting for Ben at his home. The Horse riding ranch is located in Warren, Maine. curb walking

Taking a break from the farm chores, my grandson Ryan and I headed for the Pacific Ocean on the west coast, specifically Oceanside Beach. Although the water was extremely cold to go in (except for some local surfers), fortunately we soon found a nearby playground. I noticed my grandson was watching his balance as he walked around the curb. Photos for Mandarin Orange Monday.

Surfing the Pacific Ocean

two surfers

Trunking It

Most of the surfers are "trunking it" and not wearing their wetsuits because the water temperature has reached 70 degrees.  I found a few guys taking turns to catch some waves. How about you? Have you gone into the water this summer?

Manners on the Waves

Observing their kindness reminded me of a song I have taught my grandson, Pleasingly Patient. Little ones learn the art of patience with this cute counting song. Teach youngsters to sing the tune in a soothing voice as a way to help them manage their wait time. (sung to the tune of "Are You Sleeping?")

I am patient.
I am patient.
Watch me wait.
Watch me wait.
One, two, three, four, five,
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
I can wait.
I am great!

Gentle Paddle on Sluggish Water

This guy who is paddling out in his spring suit, well sometimes it takes awhile to reach the wave sets. It depends on how big the swell is and how the bottom is conformed.

 The Perfect Wave

Waiting for the swell and to see the wave coming, takes a lot of practice. Are you patient and can you wait?

Sundown

All in all, it was a great day surfing some pretty nice waves in the Pacific Ocean. Is the surf up where you are?
