My Review: Follow a farmer with his tractor and trailer as he goes around his farm - combines simple counting skills with a catchy song and a singalong CD. Education Market: This colorful book combines simple counting skills and fun farm animals to keep early readers entertained. Gift Market: This is a must-have early years picture book for farm shops, transport museums and every outlet whose customers care about the land and where food comes from! It travels through the seasons with illustrations that show the farming year. It includes a section on farm machinery. Vocalist Mark Collins is also the voices behind Barefoot's Bestselling Portside Pirates.

Being a local farmer and avocado grower in my area, I give this book 5+ stars! It is so rewarding to grow your own food and to educate and teach the children where food comes from! I sell avocados at our local Farmer's Market and I'm always meeting lots of friendly people from all over.

The music CD is a wonderful, zippy song that immediately you and your children will be fond of and eager to join in. The full length colorful illustrations are gorgeous with the pictures of the seasons and the farm machinery section is very informative, too. I highly recommend this adorable hardcover book with CD for $16.99 to you! Visit my marketplace to order on line.

Indian Tales : Book : Barefoot Books

I had a very interesting day at the Fallbrook Farmer's Market on Friday. My new friends from India were selling beautiful handmade women's clothing! Last time I was telling you about the mother, son and grandmother from India who purchased "The Elephant Dance". So I decided to introduce Indian Tales to these fine folks. They are very kind, generous people who shared their lunch with me. In fact, they insisted that I taste their fresh food made daily with lots of wonderful spices... so delicious! Have you sampled Indian food before?

Indian Tales

Venture to a country that is bursting with color, life and contrasts in these lively folk tales. The eight stories in this anthology, each from a different Indian state, feature educational facts and information about the cultures from which they are chosen.

Review: Elephant Dance- A Journey To India

My first time selling Barefoot Books at the Vista Farmer's Market was an amazing, incredible experience! I met the coolest, most interesting people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

I had the pleasure of meeting a Grandmother, Mother and her son from India. They fell in love with Barefoot Books, especially the Elephant Dance and Home For A Tiger. Let me share a little with you on one of these delightful paperback children's books.

Elephant Dance
A Journey to India
Listen along with Ravi to Grandfather's captivating stories about India, where the sun is like a ferocious tiger and monsoon rains cascade like waterfalls. Notes after the story include facts about India's animals, food, culture and religion, and a simple elephant dance music score.

* My Review:

The story is fun to read and will draw young readers in with its use of bright colors and talk of jungle animals. The book will teach kids a lot of interesting facts about India's people and cultures, and includes a "Living In India" spread that details the country's geography, religion, various native animals, and exotic food and spices.

The book is easy to read, very colorful with bright illustrations and very educational!

First off Ravi and his grandfather go to market and buy a bamboo flute. Seeing sheet music in a book is always an added bonus for me being a piano teacher!

Towards the back of the book you will learn about the geography and living in India.

You will also find a list of food and spices from India!

This paperback children's book, Elephant Dance is on sale for $5.99 the month of Sept.'09 You can order on my website. Also, you will want to take advantage of the free shipping offer on orders over $35. from now till the end of Sept.'09

Review: Thesaurus Rex by Laya Steinberg

Today was a good day at the Farmer's Market! The sun greeted me early this a.m. with a promise that it would be 1 degree cooler! lol I met some new friends from the beach area who stopped by our local Farmer's Market!

What a beautiful Mom and oh so cute baby boy... and I got to hold him, such joy! And you know that kind of smile... when he smiles at me, the sun comes out and you feel like you've been to the moon and back!

In spite of warm temperatures, folks were shopping for vegetables and hummus dips and yes, of course, Barefoot Books! One particular favorite with boys ages 3-7 is Thesaurus Rex!

Thesaurus Rex
Follow this mischievous dinosaur as he frolics, rollicks, frisks and romps. Each colorful page introduces simple synonyms and a fun-filled way to build vocabulary and word recognition.

My Review:

Thesaurus Rex is a happy blue spotted dinosaur in colorful pants. He frolics, rollicks, frisks and romps. He, hunts, searches, forages and pokes. I love the use of synonyms throughout the story. Repeated readings do help to get younger kids to use repeated words in their regular vocabulary. Thesaurus Rex is easy to read, full of animals and very educational. The illustrations by Debbie Harter are great and so colorful. I particularly love watching little ones stop by and see the joy as their mom's read this delightful paperback book for $6.99 You can order it at my market place:
